For months, Jesse has been envious of her twin sister Bryn and even has a crush on Bryn’s gorgeous, popular boyfriend, Quinton. When Jesse awakens from a coma to learn that everyone thinks she IS Bryn, the option of actually taking over her sister’s life is beyond tempting, but there’s a downside. She’d have to give up Ethan, her best friend and the only person she trusts. Could she actually live as Bryn for the rest of her life? And if her family and friends found out, would they ever forgive her?

Written from Bryn’s point of view
Quinton was wearing what looked like a brand new black suit and bright red tie. Dark circles ringed his eyes and his naturally tan skin looked pale and grey as if he were sick himself.  I wondered how he taken the news of my death.
“How’s my favorite girlfriend today?” he asked looking at my parents who were sitting close to Jesse.
“Girlfriend,” I said aloud my voice sounding strange in the large silent room, “What’s Quinton talking about?”
Tu looked at me but didn’t say anything. Instead, we both turned back to my family, afraid to miss anything.

In the hospital room, my mom’s head fell and she let out a sorrowful whimper. My dad was the braver one. “She’s not doing very well, today,” my dad said, “but she is Brin and Brin always gets what she wants, so if she wants to get better, she will.”
Quinton let out a sad little chuckle at my dad’s attempt to keep things light.
“She is Brin.” What was my dad talking about? I shook my head back and forth “That doesn’t make sense,” I mumbled and all the sudden I remembered my mom, on a different day, calling Jesse by my name. When I first heard her say it, I thought she was delusional or overcome with grief or something, but now her words began to make sense. They thought I was alive. This thought was quickly followed by an even more disturbing thought; where did they think Jesse was?
Next to Jesse’s bed, my dad stood up and straightened out his back, making a grunting noise as he stretched what I imagined were sore, tired muscles. My mom stood up next to him and grabbed his hand like she needed his support to stand upright. I could see the defeat in her saggy body.
“Well,” my dad said, I guess we’d better go get dressed for Jesse’s funeral. Are you coming?” My father asked looking at Quinton directly.
“Yes, sir,” Quinton quickly replied. As Quinton talked, his voice trembled giving away how close his emotions were to the surface. He obviously had taken my death well, mostly because he thought I was still alive. He was only upset by the fact that the girl he thought was his girlfriend was so badly hurt.
“Good man. We’ll see you there,” my dad said patting Quinton on the back as he and my mom walked toward the door to leave.
Jesse’s funeral. Good man. We’ll see you there,
Their simple conversation swirled around my mind and for a minute, I forgot Tu was even watching my family with me.  A barrage of emotions came at me, one on top of another like relentless waves pounding on the shore. Disbelief and confusion and not far behind, anger rose up. This was more than a simple misunderstanding this was an insane mistake.
“Jesse’s not dead. I am!” I screamed bringing more curious stares from the deadies closest to us. I pulled my hand away from Tu to pound on the glass window in front of me as if that would get their attention in the hospital room. My pounding was useless; the ethereal material absorbed the sound leaving me feeling more helpless and frustrated.
Tu took a nervous step away from me even though I’m sure with no solid body, I couldn’t actually hurt her.
I watched through the window in horror as my parents walked out of the hospital room and Quinton moved to Jesse’s side, taking her hand all the while thinking it was mine.
“No, no, no!” I screamed out again. This time I could feel the terrible sensation of a tightening of my throat and stinging of my eyes. The ghostly sensation mocked me, reminding me that I had no tears to fall, that I could get no relief. I turned to Tu who was staring at me.
“They think I’m alive. They think my twin sister is me. They’re on their way to my sister’s funeral.”
